1. Who we are
Nourva App ("we", "us", "our") is a pregnancy nutrition and wellness application. References to "you" or "your" mean any person who downloads, installs, accesses, or uses the Nourva App application or any associated website.
By using Nourva App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Privacy Policy in full. If you do not agree, you must stop using Nourva App immediately.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account details: your email address, full name, and a securely hashed password
- Pregnancy profile: your due date, trimester, and number of pregnancies
- Physical details: your height, weight, and activity level, used solely to calculate your personalised nutrition targets
- Nutrition and food logs: all meal entries, portion sizes, and timestamps you record in the app
- Food photos: if you choose to photograph a meal for AI analysis, the image is transmitted to Google Gemini solely to identify the food. The image is not stored by Nourva App and is not used to train any AI model. Please see Section 5 for details on how Google handles API data.
- Supplement logs: all vitamin and supplement entries you record
- Symptom and wellness logs: any symptoms, mood entries, sleep notes, or journal entries you choose to record
- Exercise records: any physical activity you log within the app
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version number

- Purchase records: transaction identifiers issued by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store any payment card details.
2.3 Information we do not collect
We do not collect your precise GPS location. We do not access your device contacts, camera, or microphone unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific in-app feature. We do not operate advertising trackers or sell advertising space.
3. How we use your information
We use your information only for the following purposes:
- To create and maintain your Nourva App account
- To calculate and display your personalised daily nutrition targets based on your profile
- To store and display your food logs, wellness records, and journal entries
- To deliver push notifications you have opted in to receive
- To process and verify your Premium plan purchases
- To diagnose and resolve technical issues and improve app stability
- To respond to support requests and account deletion requests
- To deliver a promotional code if you request one through our website, via a single email
Nourva App does not use your health or nutrition data to train any AI model, and we never sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising of any kind.
When food photos are submitted to Google Gemini for analysis, this happens through Google's paid Gemini API service. Google's policy differentiates between its free and paid API tiers: on free, unpaid API access, Google may use submitted content to improve its products. On paid API access, which is what Nourva App uses, Google does not use submitted prompts, images, or responses to train or improve its AI models. Google may retain this data briefly for abuse monitoring and safety purposes, but not for model training. Full details are in Google's Gemini API Terms of Service.
4. Legal basis for processing
For users in the European Union, United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions with equivalent data protection legislation, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Contract: processing that is necessary to deliver the services you have requested, including account creation and nutrition tracking
- Consent: for push notifications and the voluntary health data you choose to enter, such as symptoms and journal entries
- Legitimate interests: for technical diagnostics and app improvement, where those interests are proportionate and do not override your privacy rights
- Legal obligation: where processing is required by applicable law
Health data, including pregnancy information, symptom records, and wellness entries, is classified as special category sensitive data. We process it solely on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you choose to enter it into the app.
5. Third-party services
Nourva App works with the following third-party service providers. Each receives only the minimum data necessary to perform its specific function.
- Supabase (database and authentication): stores your account data and logs securely, with row-level security policies that prevent any user from accessing another user's data. Supabase Privacy Policy

Under this tier, Google does not use submitted inputs or outputs to train its models. Google's Gemini API Terms

6. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure protected by the following measures:
- Row-level security policies ensure that each user can access only their own records
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard cryptographic algorithms and are never stored in plain text
- All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS and TLS
- Database access is restricted to authenticated, authorised requests only
No security system is entirely impenetrable. In the event of a data breach that is reasonably likely to result in harm to your rights or interests, we will notify you and relevant regulatory authorities as required by applicable law.
7. Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@nourva.app with the subject line "Delete my account". We will process your request within 5 business days and confirm completion by email.
Following deletion, anonymised and aggregated statistical data that cannot be linked to any individual may be retained for analytical purposes. Purchase transaction identifiers are retained by Apple and Google in accordance with their own policies, which are outside our control.
8. International data transfers
Nourva App is available globally. Your data may be stored or processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where Supabase and other service providers operate. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on service providers that maintain appropriate technical and contractual safeguards under applicable data protection law.
9. Your rights
Depending on your country of residence, you may have some or all of the following rights in relation to your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@nourva.app. We will respond within 30 days and will never treat you differently for making a request.
- Right of access: you may ask us what personal data we hold about you and request a copy of it
- Right to correction: you may ask us to correct inaccurate information. Most profile data can be updated directly within the app
- Right to deletion: you may ask us to permanently delete your account and all associated data. Full instructions are available on our Account Deletion page
- Right to pause processing: in limited circumstances, such as where you dispute the accuracy of your data or believe we are processing it unlawfully, you may ask us to temporarily suspend processing while the matter is reviewed. In practice, this means we would suspend your account. This right does not apply to data you actively continue to submit through the app yourself
- Right to withdraw a permission: if you previously consented to something, such as push notifications, you may withdraw that consent at any time through your device settings or in-app notification preferences. Withdrawal does not affect any processing that occurred prior to withdrawal
- Right to raise a concern: if you believe we are using your data beyond what is necessary to operate the app, you may raise a concern with us and we will cease the relevant use
- Data export: we do not currently provide an automated data export feature. If you require a copy of your data, please contact us at hello@nourva.app and we will assist on a best-efforts basis
10. Cookies and tracking
The Nourva App mobile app does not use cookies. Our website may use essential session-level cookies required for core website functionality. We do not deploy advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or behavioural analytics tools.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Where changes are material, we will provide at least 14 days notice via in-app notification or email before the update takes effect. The date shown at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Nourva App following the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
